The Big Day In

Today we had lots of fun together at our Big Day In. We made Christmas hats, watched a short movie, tried our agility on the obstacle course, had fun in the sports area, raced through a blow up train, built a mountain in the sandpit, blew bubbles, drew with chalk, rode our bikes and scooters and lots more! What a funtastic day!

Building Bridges

For the past three weeks Room 9 have been reading different versions of "The Billy Goats Gruff". We then started researching bridge designs by finding books and pictures at home. Today we chose a design we liked and made our bridges out of straws, ice-block sticks, pipe cleaners, cardboard and lots of sellotape! It was lots of fun!

The Shuttle Atlantis Takes Off!

How Blake House Got its Name...

One day at Botany Downs Primary School, someone asked who "Blake" was. Well it is a big story Miss Cotman said... (JC)

Sir Peter Blake is a sailor. He took pictures of trees to show people that there were not many trees left. (SW)

Sir Peter Blake died because the pirates killed him by accident. The pirates said "Give me your money and your food now PLEASE!" (ChP)

Sir Peter Blake was very brave and he worked hard to help others (If you are in Blake house perhaps you can try to be brave and helpful too!). After becoming famous winning the America's Cup for New Zealand, Sir Peter Blake decided to try and teach people about problems in the environment. It was when he was doing this in the Amazon River that he was killed. (Miss Cotman)

Making Pancakes

Today we made pancakes. It was our favourite thing that we did today (as well as going to the library - and lunchtime of course!). A BIG thank you to those who were able to help in class and to the folks at home that helped us get the ingredients we needed. It was a very yummy way to finish the school term!

Happy Holidays!

The Runaway Pancake

If I had a runaway pancake I would get my Dad's fishing net and I would chase the pancake. When I caught the pancake I would eat the pancake. A small pancake is called a pikelet. (JC)
If I had a runaway pancake I would say to come in my hands and I will trick him. (SW)
If I had a runaway pancake I would put it in the bath and catch him and put him in the pan and eat it. (JS)
I will catch a runaway pancake. I will take him into the forest and there will be a tree and on it there will be an eye and an alarm that turns on. When the pancake comes the log will hit him. (GB)
If I had a runaway pancake I would build a trap. A porcupine and the pancake will fall down and the porcupine will fall backwards. That is how I catch a runaway pancake. (JoK)
